The Exit.
Hershel and Elia slept on and off, after which Hershel left around 2 PM and then slept the rest of the day — for the record, from 4:40 to 4:40. Elia hung out with Ariel later and reported all relevant developments.
A day-by-day account of the first sixty-three days, beginning with a game of Catan and ending with the accidental use of the word love.
What follows is the source material — kept, against editorial advice, in the same voice it was written in at the time. Names of friends have been preserved out of laziness. Spelling errors are part of the record. No one in this chronicle has been compensated for their role, with the possible exception of Ariel.

NOV. 5 – NOV. 11, 2023
In which Catan is played, a sticky note is left, and a kiss occurs the morning after.
Ariel and Elia went to OpenL to pick up Hershel. Drunk Settlers ensued, with Gabe and Ariel. Ariel attempted to cockblock and, ultimately, failed. The newly-acquainted pair then walked Ariel home — while, simultaneously, dumpster-diving — and left a sticky note on Arik’s door, an act which would prove to be the foundational text of most subsequent jokes.
On the balcony their hands touched. Hershel maintains, on the record, that this was on account of the cold. He then sat at the wrong end of the bed, which is why Elia suggested they play BananaGrams.
Eventually they fell asleep, and then they woke up, and they kissed.
Hershel and Elia slept on and off, after which Hershel left around 2 PM and then slept the rest of the day — for the record, from 4:40 to 4:40. Elia hung out with Ariel later and reported all relevant developments.
Hershel came over in the morning. Some Figma was committed. BananaGrams was played, again. Chicken soup was eaten together on the balcony. Eric arrived later to print something. It was awkward for everyone, particularly when Hershel claimed they were studying Torah. Spaghetti and meatballs were eaten by all parties.
Hershel arrived later but was sick and fell asleep immediately. He maintains, contrary to all available evidence, that it was the best sleep of his life.
Recorded at a Tel Aviv bus stop. The day continued in escalating fashion.
Elia went to Tel Aviv. At the bus stop, hands were touched in public for the first time. Later: grocery shopping, intent to cook for Shabbat, abandoned. Jackbox with Hershel’s friends was played in its place; Elia won Quiplash.
That night was, by all subsequent admissions, intense. Hershel received his first hickey ever. Elia gave her first hickey ever. The development is on file.
Eggs for breakfast. Lunch is unaccounted for. Steak and fries by midday. The hickey was discovered by Ben Zatman, then Arik, who became the second person to know. Hershel ate at Friedman’s; Elia hosted. Atara, joining later, became the third.
They walked to Shul together (wow, romantic). They helped Charles with his startup. They ate at Ori Bauman’s meal, then visited Atara’s rats with Aaron Lazar, who did not believe they were a thing. They stopped by Sammy’s, but Atara didn’t want to go in, so they didn’t. They then went to Elia’s, chilled on the balcony, and Aaron ate Elia’s food. Hershel left, eventually, because they had been spending too much time together for the first week. Elia’s throat began to hurt, tf.
NOV. 12 – NOV. 18, 2023
Elia taught a class on Zoom in which nobody responded.
Elia came to Hershel’s dorm. Hotdogs and smashed potatoes were consumed. Elemental was watched. Later: Risk with Kevin, who suspected nothing. The dorm denied them re-entry. They separated.
Elia drove to Chashmonaim for her grandmother’s shloshim, then back to Herzliya.
No map. Steak at ₪169 a person. A FaceTime placed mid-meal. Two arms looped.
Elia drove to Kfar Saba and then picked up Hershel. They drove to the Marina. They did not use a map. They kissed in the car en route.
They had steak — ₪169 each, on the record — and FaceTimed Ariel and Abie from the restaurant. Walking back to the dorm afterwards, Elia and Hershel looped arms.
Hershel fell in love. Then he fell in love again.
French toast was consumed. They took a walk around campus, holding hands. The tour was quick; they didn’t see much. They ran into Gabe, and then Yarden. Elia drove to Tel Aviv and missed her meeting. They visited a DIY store, a music store (where Hershel acquired a guitar), and HomeCenter at the mall. They went with Atara to adopt a new rat. Board-game night was inspired by Elia and attended by them both, who, at first, pretended not to know each other. They did not, in the end, play a board game together. They walked home together regardless.
Hershel left for Jerusalem. Later that evening, four additional people were inducted into the secret: Mendy, Tamar, Arussy, and Ori.
Hershel was in Jerusalem with his cousins, bragging. Elia hung out with Ariel and FaceTimed Hershel for what was, lowkey, the first time. Elia officially met Abie.
NOV. 19 – NOV. 25, 2023
Hershel boarded the wrong train and went to Binyamina. Unable to wait until Elia finished her Zoom class, he arrived at OpenL forty minutes late wearing Elia’s sweatshirt — a fact that, despite all available visual evidence, fooled both Arik and Ben Zatman. They studied Yehoshua (not Yeshayahu) Perek Aleph. Schnitzel and fries were consumed during Barbie.
Plus: Hasselback Drunken Salami, the conclusion of Barbie, and a debate on unconditional love.
They spent the entire day together. Early in the morning they went outside, on purpose, to avoid throwing out the table. They went to the grocery store holding hands. The driver told them only love will win.
Elia attended a Zoom class while Hershel produced Hasselback Drunken Salami and burned rice. They finished Barbie (in the end she had a vagina). Meital, for reasons unknown, forced Hershel to host a Shabbat meal which she also intended to host. They made chicken soup. Elia had a debate about unconditional love.
They turned off the lights and fell asleep in complete darkness.
They woke up in complete darkness and gradually turned on the lights. They ate eggs, toast, and butter, only to discover, mid-meal, that the bread was gluten-free. Hershel read this calendar; it was really meta. Ariel came over and they ate tuna. Ariel stayed an excessively long time and questioned Elia and Hershel on their relationship. Tova questioned Hershel on whether it was official. Elia said yes. Later, at Jacob and Arik’s, Arik was judging Elia so hard, asked why Hershel wasn’t there, and then judged her harder. Jacob, separately, could not comprehend the facts. Jacob and Arik then got into a fight.
Hershel went to the gym for the first time in a long time. Elia arrived at the dorms; instead of dining, two hours were spent listening to Charles’s startup ideas. Veal was then cooked. Hershel’s mom, sister, and dad were FaceTimed. Hershel’s dad showed more interest in Elia than Hershel’s mom did. Elia felt hella awkward. Elia claimed she was not sleeping over, and meant it, as she left at 2:30 AM. Hershel did not walk her back.
Elia drove to Chashmonaim for an unwanted bachelorette party where candles were painted. She did not tell anyone about Hershel; somebody asked, however, why she was smiling at her phone. Hershel cooked all day for a Shabbat meal Elia had no intention of attending and sent photographic updates. Elia made only orange soup. It was, separately, Thanksgiving; neither party observed it. Shalom, from Australia, was informed of the relationship.
Elia drove from Chashmonaim to Herzliya and began to fall ill. Hershel arrived to help make carrot cake. They were an hour late to Shul and arrived immediately before announcements, which was, in retrospect, suspicious. Hershel ate at Rav Noam & Shiffy’s; Elia at Talia’s. Both meals went well — Hershel’s especially, as he stood for every ice-breaker, and Tamar thought he was cool because he knows how to cook. Hershel came over and waited a half hour for Elia (oops). They agreed to take a walk; Elia was tired; they slept instead.
Showing up to Shul together raised suspicions. Hershel dipped immediately after davening. Elia attempted to surprise him at the dorm meal; her visit was brief. She moved on to Meital and Nili’s, then brought back a contingent of first-years to Kevin’s, then to Jacob’s, where lamb was served. Hershel could not join, as he did not know the address. Tamar, at this juncture, realized for the first time that the guy Elia was seeing was Hershel.
NOV. 26 – DEC. 3, 2023
A second vacuum is recovered from a dumpster. Harry asks if they are cousins.
They arrived late to OpenL together — in the middle of Gabe’s shiur, no less — and were stared at by everyone in attendance. Despite this, there was not enough food left for them. Hershel was making it obvious. Elia, separately, touched Hershel in front of Rav Shmuel. Harry asked Hershel if he and Elia were cousins. Talia asked the same question of both of them at once.
Later, after Kevin asked which direction they were headed, they went dumpster-diving. Hershel found another vacuum. Wow.
Elia arrived in the middle of Rav Shmuel’s shiur and volunteered to read. Orange soup with cream was eaten at the dorm. Elia was then depressed about an upcoming class in Kfar Saba she was not ready for. Later, they drove up north to an Arab village, where Hershel met Elia’s uncle. They took the train back; Elia fell asleep. At Elia’s apartment, Elia fell asleep again and Hershel just left. Tf. He claims he was tired and can’t sleep in her apartment.
Elia made chicken with Tamar; Tamar took notes on chicken decoration. Elia came over to Hershel’s, saying she didn’t want to come for a long time, then walked up to him while he was, allegedly “casually,” playing the guitar outside the dorms. Elia, of course, stayed a long time. They watched Friends With Benefits, which was lowkey inappropriate. Elia slept through the middle of it.
Hershel said he’d go to a bris at 6 AM and then simply did not. They had a late breakfast and skipped Rav Shmuel’s shiur. They saw Jacob through the window; Jacob waved. They went to several stores on Sokolov in pursuit of olive oil that wasn’t extremely expensive. Hershel’s things were tovoled. Carrying everything home took a long time and was heavy. Sweet-and-sour chicken with two sauces was prepared. Hershel departed with the newly arrived Ninja grill. Elia cooked until 4 AM for unclear reasons. Hershel was also, somehow, still awake.
Hershel found dill for Elia and brought it over. Elia’s roommates and Tova’s sister were watching a movie; interaction was too awkward to attempt. Crispy rice with tuna was eaten in Elia’s room while Elia attended her stats class. Salmon was prepped for Shabbat. Hershel texted Tamar about it.
Hershel transported the cube of frozen soup back to the dorms. Elia, pre-Shabbat, rushed there in turn and was followed by Ben Zatman. Shul was, this time, attended on time. Afterwards Elia met Hershel’s Torah Tech and high-school friends; they all got psyched. Ricki was, separately, told they were siblings. The meal in the dorms did not qualify as traditional — they sat for Kiddush — and Elia fell asleep in the middle of it.
Hershel attends Liviah's return meal under protest. Has, in the end, an amazing time.
On-time Shul attendance, which was, by all accounts, suspicious. Afterwards, Elia hung around — not speaking to Hershel — until announcing she was leaving for her meal. Hershel highkey did not want to go. Elia made him feel bad about it. Hershel went and, on the record, had an amazing time.
Elia’s meal was a dairy affair for Liviah’s return, full of people Hershel did not know, plus Elia’s friends, whom he liked. Card games were played. They essentially went public, as Liviah then told all her friends, and consequently the entire male contingent — including Ben — became aware of the matter.
After Shabbat ended they walked Ariel home. Elia did not intend to stay at the dorms but fell asleep with her clothes on while Hershel watched Doctor Who.
Elia required boomer help from Hershel with an order, to verify she was not being scammed. They arrived at OpenL almost on time (fifteen minutes late) but, despite the lack of food, Meital ordered more, which they got. They were then invited to Maya and Lexi’s apartment, where the relationship was confirmed to the room. Lexi was crushing them at Sudoku. They were asked how they met. Hershel told a long, excessive story until Elia intervened. They were told they look alike and act alike, which is facts. They walked home together and hung out in the park, agreeing — for the record — that Sunday nights are the best.
DEC. 4 – DEC. 14, 2023
Elia attended her first day of classes, then hung out with girls from her class, then fell asleep, then had a secret talk with Eric. Hershel, separately, attended the first on-campus Shacharit in two years and searched in vain for a Ping-Pong opponent. He made cherry pie and lamb. He did not, on the record, share the lamb with Elia.
They purposely did not hang out, on the grounds that they had been spending too much time together. Hershel made pigs in a blanket. Elia tested dry ice with Avi, then made chicken and mashed potatoes. Hershel continued eating lamb chops without Elia. He realized, separately, that JD had added him to his contacts.
Elia hung out with Avi, then made donuts with Maya. Hershel made canned tuna patties (?). Elia came over to Hershel’s dorm wearing a Renaissance skirt. Hershel was excited to see her. He walked her to class and the goodbye was awkward on both ends. After class she returned to his dorm and held a Zoom class on content creation, which was awkward in light of Hershel hearing every word. In the middle of it, Hershel made them steak, fries, and rice, which was amazing. They looked at Hershel’s house online; Hershel denied his family is loaded. Elia said she was not sleeping over and then, lo and behold, did.
Elia left early for Tel Aviv, then a wedding, where she told only one person about Hershel. That person was, in fact, Hershel’s neighbor’s friend’s cousin. Elia accidentally called Hershel from the middle of the wedding. Hershel made a poke bowl he was very proud of and attended the soup-and-sefarim sale alone, where he had a great time, hung out with Elia’s friends (who are also now his friends), and discovered Yonah and Susan are dating.
A 300-piece puzzle is also completed. Fuzzy socks are issued.
They hung out at Hershel’s until an hour and a half before Shabbat. Elia returned to pick Hershel up before Shul. They did not, in the end, attend Shul. They stood outside it. They were, however, standing next to each other (woah).
Hershel later held Rav Shmuel’s baby and — in the presence of Rav Noam — essentially declared that he and Elia should have kids together. They proceeded to Tamar’s place, where Ari Popper inexplicably joined. They were issued fuzzy socks and blankets, drank water out of kids’ cups, and built a 300-piece puzzle. They then walked back, agreeing Hershel would not sleep at Elia’s.
Elia was on time to Shul. Hershel was not. Elia attempted to communicate, via Arik, that she had looked for Hershel — Arik relayed only half of this. Hershel went to Atara’s with Maria, then back, and they found each other on the way. They attended Atara’s random meal of Israelis and Americans, hanging out in Atara’s room and only speaking to each other. Cards Against Humanity was played; Elia fell asleep on Hershel. They got a ride from Yehuda, who is Modiin Ilit’s mayor’s driver. They went to Charles and Eitan’s party, played beer pong (Hershel: better), and were surprised Elia did not know sports, despite her never claiming otherwise. Hershel watched Doctor Who with Tal. Elia fell asleep.
Elia kicked Hershel out in the early morning and drove back home. Hershel went solo to OpenL, where Charles questioned him about Elia’s whereabouts.
Touched in public. Photographed in accidentally matching blue. Charcuterie consumed.
Hershel pulled an all-nighter playing guitar with Netta. After class, Elia met him; she was dead tired, but they hung out the entire day regardless. Burgers and fries were made, which lowkey slapped. A nap was taken together.
Elia placed boomer phone calls to FedEx. They attended RRIS candle lighting on campus, where everyone saw them touching each other — thereby, on the public record, announcing the relationship to the world. They took a photo with Rav Noam and Shiffy in accidentally matching blue.
Back at the dorm, they watched Rick and Morty and ate Hershel’s charcuterie board. Elia did not intend to sleep over, fell asleep with her shoes on, and left at 4 AM.
Fish and chips with Liviah, Sean, and Tova. Tova once again asked if they were in love. Candles were lit; Hershel played guitar very slowly. At Gissin’s Minute-To-Win-It, Hershel dunked his head in water, embarrassing Elia, and otherwise kept calling out things that embarrassed Elia. Zvi inquired whether they were dating or just hooking up. They went to Olami for five seconds, then to Kevin’s, where Elia announced to all that they were not shomer negia.
Slept, did nothing, davened, made potatoes, made pigs in a blanket. Hershel then went to Tel Aviv to see his cousins.
Bayit Cham, broken video games, a steak weighing 800 grams.
Hershel ditched orientation (and Liviah) and surprised Elia in Tel Aviv after therapy. They walked around Sarona market and the Asian store, then played a broken video game with a random kid. They went into Whiskey Bar — but not before running into Tal, who really did not want to be in that conversation, nor did Elia.
Hershel ran to mincha. An 800-gram steak was consumed. Hershel acquired a scooter. They rode through the park from the train station, which was lowkey the best thing in the world despite the fact they almost died.
They went to campus and, with the help of the security guard, broke into the dorm administration office to retrieve Elia’s Hanukkah gift. Gifts were exchanged. They proceeded to the grocery store, then Charles’s apartment for Noah’s birthday BBQ, then Kevin’s for the Bayit Cham JLIC thing. At Melanie and Rotem’s, Elia accidentally told Meital, who, contrary to assumption, did not know.
Carrying the groceries the entire time.
DEC. 15 – DEC. 31, 2023
Hershel made a cherry pie and went to Jerusalem to see his cousins. Elia, separately, ate at Charles’s; Ricki related the siblings-joke, which Tal and Noah had assumed was Hershel’s. It was, in fact, Elia’s.
Charles, Tal, and Noah Lerman ate at Elia’s. Elia fell asleep Motzei Shabbat; she was not, contrary to appearances, ignoring Hershel’s messages.
Hershel had his first day of classes and actually woke up on time. He found the classes easy, although Ben Zatman was also there, which complicates the assessment. He saw Elia at the club fair; observers did not know what was going on between them. Elia went to Kfar Saba for new chairs. Hershel attended Whiskey Bar with his friends, then met Elia at OpenL — downstairs was closed, which kind of sucked. Ariel brought Abie. Elia invited everyone to Jacob and Arik’s, where ten people congregated. She and Tamar cleaned Jacob’s sink. Hershel played video games with Arik. Elia called her dad to verify a rumor.
Elia made miso soup. Hershel came to try it after class. Assignments were intended, not finished.
Elia attempted to solve assignments in bed while Hershel was there, which was impossible. Hershel later left. Elia went to campus but had the time of her class wrong. She sat in the library until Hershel joined and then Hershel attended the class with her. He sneezed; people said bless you. He also struggled to merge a PDF.
Hershel left for class; Elia stayed and then locked him out. Hershel came to Elia’s (after showing the Rubik’s cube to a friend); broccoli cheddar soup was eaten, which slapped. Oreo donuts were attempted, stressfully, as Elia did not want to be late for class. Hershel went to Bitan on his scooter, then to Elia’s to retrieve her charger and put her laundry in the dryer; Liviah let him in. He returned to discover Elia had cleaned his dorm. Poke bowls were made. Eitan Fischer arrived and broke Elia’s image of him.
Hershel left for class; Elia delivered kiddush food to Gissin. Liviah pretend to find out about the relationship and informed Hershel. Elia went to Tel Aviv and then home to prepare Shabbat food, then to a karaoke bar for her brother’s birthday. Hershel napped through the entire thing. A random man from Elia’s past called her future man “beyond lucky.”
Elia, in the morning, suffered through a fast day. Hershel had a last-minute change of heart and bailed on his Shabbat plans to go to Torah Tech, thanks entirely to Aaron Shlacht — who does not even go to Torah Tech.
Elia attended a play with her family, which was lowkey inappropriate as hell. Her entire family walked out, except for her grandmother. She then drove back, giving a random charedi guy a ride to the airport, and video-called Hershel the entire way — they do not, as a rule, video-call. She picked up Hershel after midnight; they hung out in the car, parked on the street, while Jordan Landes walked by without noticing. They walked back to the apartment in the drizzle.
Hershel went to school straight from Elia’s. They decided to skip OpenL on account of his pre-dad assignment load. Hershel did schoolwork while Elia sat on his bed, ignored, missing him. Hershel stayed up until 4 AM to finish his assignments, for unclear reasons.
Elia attended class at 8 AM, then hung out with a friend from eight years ago, then knocked on Hershel’s dorm — although he was, in fact, in class. She went back to her dorm, then returned later. Both responded to Charles’s groupchat text about guitar strings at the same time. She arrived around 10 PM; Hershel was surprised by her arrival, despite having been informed of it. They watched the final episode of Rick and Morty.
Elia drove Hershel to Tel Aviv to see his dad. They did not go to the beach. Honestly: it was never going to happen. They waited outside on the street for fifteen minutes. Elia was not permitted up to meet Hershel’s dad and brother. Hershel went inside; his dad asked why he was late. Elia took the scooter (and Hershel’s helmet) to see a friend. Mustafa threatened that Hershel would need to get a sticker, but the other security guard, who likes Hershel, declined to enforce. Hershel went to Sderot and led Mincha by the police station. Elia returned to the dorm and fell asleep. She did not pick him up from the train station, owing to fatigue.
Elia attended a funeral. Later, Hershel came over and they made gnocchi with rosé sauce, which slapped. Elia went to class. Hershel hid her pajamas in his closet to prevent suspicion during his dad and brother’s dorm visit. They went out to dinner; Elia joined later; awkwardness remained but had decreased. Hershel’s brother would not stop talking to Elia. Her dad — that is, Hershel’s dad — kept questioning her. They walked away separately afterward, only to run into Hershel’s dad and brother again a few minutes later. They held hands in the car. Hershel’s dorm was, for the first time ever, clean.
Six members of Hershel's family. One literal fire. One sixty-minute wait. Zero thank-yous.
Elia submitted all her assignments. She was hella stressed. They were headed to Jerusalem together. She told Hershel not to come to her apartment; he showed up anyway with his scooter; they walked back to campus to take the train. They refrained from PDA, as they did not want anyone to want to kill themselves.
The meal in Jerusalem brought Elia face-to-face with the full party: Dad, brother, cousin, cousin, friend, brother’s girlfriend. Elia was apparently quiet, on the grounds that she did not know what to do. Shana was judging Hershel while claiming, in writing, not to be.
After dinner, Hershel’s dad wanted Hershel to join him in Mea Shearim. Hershel wanted to hang out with Elia. In hindsight, no one is sure why those two things had to contradict.
They walked through Ben Yehuda. Elia gave a tour of all the places where she ____. On the way back to the train, they encountered a literal fire emerging from a dumpster. They called the fire department. They waited. While waiting, everyone who passed asked them what was happening and, by tone, implied they had started it.
When the fire department arrived an hour later, Hershel and Elia were not treated like the heroes they deserved to be.
They used the bathroom-synagogue in the train station. They fell asleep on the train back to Herzliya.
Elia went to Raanana the following morning. Hershel packed, went to Tel Aviv, and got a haircut.
Elia attended the JLIC BBQ without Hershel, owing to a dad-block. She taught Adir the Rubik’s cube. Hershel arrived in the middle of this. They both proceeded to teach Adir the Rubik’s cube. Everyone watching thought it was cute. They were the last to leave; Hershel followed on the scooter as Elia drove Jordan Goldberg and Tamar — until Elia told him to get in the car.
Sofia is informed. Jonathan, separately, calls and shames. Percy Jackson begins.
Elia and Hershel woke up early and went to campus, where they saw Elia’s classmate Sofia. Elia told Sofia that Hershel was her boyfriend. They later ran into Ben and Maya outside the library and were forced into a long conversation. At the dorm, Elia decided she wanted to go back to her apartment; they SPLIT for the first time. Elia drove to Kfar Saba.
Hershel finished his assignments. They were then late to OpenL, but no one was there, so they had unprecedented quantities of pizza. They studied for, perhaps, five seconds.
They walked to Sokolov for an Olami BBQ — wrong address — and on the return ran into Arik, then Mendy, Kevin, and Arussy. They hung out in the park and climbed that thing. Jonathan called and shamed them, informing Hershel that Elia isn’t funny. Charles and Tal called next; they saw Jacob in the background and proceeded to Eitan and Avrumy’s to beat him up.
Hershel and Elia drove to AM:PM, bought ingredients, returned home, and made ravioli at 2 AM while watching the first episode of Percy Jackson.
JAN. 1 – JAN. 6, 2024
Elia tutored in the library. Hershel attended class. Elia, separately, attended a shiva with Ariel. Hershel fell asleep and only resurfaced at 10 PM. He arrived at 12:40 AM.
Elia and Hershel went to the library and sat separately while Elia studied with Sofia and Hershel studied with Liviah and Ben Zatman. Elia tapped Hershel on the shoulder to say she was leaving. Hershel said “kay bye Liviah” and left too.
Hershel woke up at 7:40, rushed to class, and left Elia by herself. He later arrived at Elia’s after playing ping pong. Tomato soup and grilled cheese were consumed. Tova was, briefly, in attendance. Elia returned to campus for her exam and content-creation class. Hershel made dinner. Elia fell asleep immediately.
Elia thought she would have the day as a vacation; this proved false. She had to get the car from her sister; lunch was made together. She thought Hershel would come over, but he was committed to assignments and deli roll. They video-called and exchanged photos. Hershel fell asleep. Charles informed Elia he was attending Friday’s Shabbat dinner — additional stress. She also discovered she did not know Calculus I and was therefore required to teach herself the entire subject. She and Hershel were on a silent video call together for approximately an hour. She kept asking him to come over. He did not. She was depressed. At 5 AM, both finished. Hershel came over. Elia was less depressed.
Elia went to the grocery store, distrusting Hershel’s procurement abilities. Tutoring was canceled, thank G-d. A Zoom call was held while Hershel made hot dogs. Arik FaceTimed; he approved of the relationship in the short term only, recommending less time together. Jacob then arrived and was angry to find Elia and Hershel alone in a room together. Cookies were finished; Shabbos preparations rushed. They came to Shul exactly as it ended. They hosted at Elia’s; it went better than expected. Hershel did the dishes while Elia dried, which was like a husband-and-wife activity. Later, Elia revealed the surprise for Hershel; sleep ensued.
Hershel called Elia "love." It was, on the record, an accident.
They did not wake up on time for Shul. They got ready slowly. Thinking they had missed Kiddush, Elia made it herself. They had not, in fact, missed Kiddush.
At Shul they saw Eric, who went into Gaza. Charles asked Hershel how he asked Elia out. Aaron — hashgacha pratit, for him — was also there, which meant no hand-holding.
At Mendy’s, they sat separately-together at the meal. Elia fell asleep on the chair. Hershel put dessert in front of her. She did not eat it. They played Bonanza and helped each other score.
Hershel called Elia "love." It was, on the record, by accident.
Ariel then revealed to the entire room that Elia and Hershel sleep in the same bed and are not shomer. After Shabbat, Arussy drove four people in the backseat — lowkey the most fun ever. Back at Elia’s they hooked up briefly until Elia had to tutor and rushed Hershel out, citing Arik’s earlier advice. Hershel disappeared for the rest of the night. He was, it turns out, sleeping.
The chronicle continues in Issue №2. Notable items currently under editorial consideration include the day they watched the final episode of Kaos and were left in utter dismay; continuing coverage filed under the Kaos Report.
